Evidence - Faith
“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith, he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith” (Hebrews 11:7)
Seen: blépō A primary verb; to look at (literally or figuratively): - behold, beware, lie, look (on, to), perceive, regard, see, sight, take heed. Compare G3700. (studylight.org)
Noah stepped out without evidence, stepped into the unknown without having seen anything. Yet.
Not yet seen.
Oftentimes when the Lord is at work or we are walking with him we don’t get a road map the entire time. Or even if we get direction, we don’t always get the: “how, why, where, when” answered, he just asks us to step out in faith.
And “faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1)
Faith and evidence go hand in hand.
Faith is stepping out when the evidence is not seen YET.
Faith is stepping into the unknown when the only evidence you have is the still small whisper.
Faith is stepping forward when it would be easier to stay put.
Faith is stepping down, so God can lead instead of us.
Faith is essential in order to see evidence this side of eternity of God at work.
Noah did not have a vision or the “how, where, when” about all that God was going to do, but he knew the “who.” He knew who was behind Him. He heard the voice of the Lord and to Him, that was evidence enough that he should do his part.
As you read the stories and testimonies throughout this series, I want you to understand that just because these individuals and myself have understood now, doesn’t mean we did when we started.
Faith is trusting the voice and the evidence will come later.
Let’s talk about some evidence now.
