Everyday Miracles
I didn’t know if I would ever be able to do this.
As I have gotten into running, it has become a part of my daily routine. Especially during Home-bound order this year.
Well, one day I was running and it was cloudy and kind of raining, and I just put on my windbreaker in case it started to rain even more.
As I was running my route and listening to music, all was normal, until I stopped and realized that this was different. This was new. This was different.
I had completely missed the everyday miracle as I was living it.
For those of you who have been around, you know that I was in a car accident on I-70 in the middle of a storm. (more details on this and finding God’s provision in those storms in a later series)
Ever since I have struggled with anxiety when it comes to clouds and rain. Sometimes it comes more intensely than others, other times, it is mild.
Then other times, there is none.
This was one of those times. I was running and IT HAD NOT EVEN OCCURRED TO ME that this was such a big deal. It had not even entered my mind that 3 years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do this.
Three years ago I would have been paralyzed with anxiety and not able to leave my house.
Three years ago I would have chosen to work out at my house.
Three years ago, only a few would know my story with storms and anxiety.
Here is the thing about everyday miracles, they tend to go unnoticed because they seem “so little” or subtle to us. Oftentimes, these are things the Lord is working and moving on even when we aren’t noticing, but we are choosing to be faithful to walk with Him and in relationship with Him.
Also, now I notice.
I notice every time I run when it is cloudy or when it is still raining a bit. I notice it and I praise my God because of it. I run by houses and jog past people and they don’t know what a big deal it is that I am running, but that is how it is. People don’t always know the story and we won’t know other peoples every time. To the people I pass and the cars that drive by, I am simply a person on their run for the day, for me, it is an everyday miracle.
What about you? What is an everyday miracle for you? What is something that you couldn’t do 1, 2, maybe even 3 years ago that you can now?
If you don’t know, stop and ask God to show you. Ask Him to open your eyes and to see how He has changed you and what everyday miracle is happening around you.
