PT’s Power and Light
Location:
In the heart of the power and light district is this gem of a coffee shop. If you are looking for the urban feel of a coffee shop in the downtown area of Kansas City, you need not look any farther!
Coffee:
Straight up delicious. The vanilla latte is a great ratio of coffee to syrup (the added red sprinkles were from the Chiefs making it to the Superbowl). On occasion, they have a pop-up waffle bar with unique flavor combos, follow them on social media to not miss out on that yumminess! They have several seasonal drinks, their winter one: sweater weather is a mixture of brown sugar, oranges, figs, ginger, and vanilla bean!
Beans:
Flying Monkey: milk chocolate, graham crackers, honey - lattes, americanos
Southpaw: caramel, peach, sugarcane - cortados and smaller *some signature drinks
Cold Front: blackberry, grape, caramel - cold brew
Ad Astra: dark chocolate, cola, brown sugar - darker roast drip coffee
Atmosphere:
The urban atmosphere is enjoyable with the richness of the deep blue that is prominent in their logo and sprinkled throughout the shop. The music is a bit on the funkier side, but if that is a turn off it is not too loud, so if you want to get work done you can! A great place to work alone or with up to 4 people. There are 4 top tables and 2 bar height long tables that allow you to meet in a group or get work done!
People:
While I haven’t met the owner, he donated to a local ministry fundraiser I was in charge of getting donations from which was very generous. In addition, they use Direct Trade Beans. This means that they know the farmers that grow their beans.
