Fight Of Our Minds Part 1

This morning I am fighting. Fighting for my headspace and my thoughts. Not in a dramatic way where I am under blatant spiritual attack, but more so the whisper of a thought that does not find it’s origin in the God I know, love, and serves.

With the whole country beginning to open back up, my thoughts, nerves, and fears are coming to the forefront of my mind and this morning as I was journaling the Lord gave me so much encouragement that I wanted to share it in case you are in the same place or a version so of it like I am.

I cry out for my thoughts to be the ones that match my Heavenly Father’s.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is not the same thing as wisdom, but oftentimes we perceive thought as wise when in actuality it is a fearful thought. We need to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ because when we do we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5) We need to take every thought to the throne room of God and place it against scripture. Because when we do we have submitted ourselves, then to God. When we resist the devil, he will flee from us. (James 4:7) This is a promise we have been given in scripture. Because we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms which is why we put on the full armor of God.

So that when the day of evil comes, (because it will come) we may be able to stand our ground (in our minds, emotions, and actions) and after we have done everything to stand.

WE STAND

  1. We stand by putting our time and effort into our training

    • We train by spending time in the bible, by knowing scripture so well that when a lie seeps into our minds and thoughts, we can recognize it as such and REPLACE it with truth

  2. We stand by understanding our emotions, but not letting them dictate our actions if it is going to cause us to disobey God

    • We make this choice by being vulnerable with God and others and tell them that we are feeling the way we are, but then we act on what God has called us to do whether or not our emotions are in line with that

  3. We stand by choosing to.

    • We can’t just decide one day that we have the strength and training to continue to stand in the fight/battle we are in with the dark forces of this world. That’s not how it works. We have to choose this day whom you will serve (Joshua 24: 14- 15).

Who and what will you serve today?

Will you choose to serve God and not your thoughts?

Will you choose to do the work it takes (turn off Netflix, hide Instagram, etc.) to really deal with the thoughts you are having and REPLACE them instead of just distracting yourself from them?

Eleazor was one of David’s Might warriors and there is not a lot written about him in the bible, but what is written is this “but Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day.” (2 Samuel 23:10)

Eleazor fought, but the Lord brought about the victory. It was a partnership with the God of the universe. The best partnership that has or will ever exist, but we have a choice to make.

So, who will you choose to serve today, because make no mistake, you are serving something/someone.

How about it?

Wanna be in the fight of your mind? Let’s do it together!
